guess what?
We are remodeling our kitchen! I placed the cabinet order on Monday and things should start happening very soon. The perimeter cabinets are a creamy white and the island will be espresso stained. We are going with brownish granite(not as dark as the picture) and redoing the wood floors and extending them into the family room. This picture is the kitchen designers rendering but it shows the layout quite well. The island will be 80 inches long and will make the biggest difference in the kitchen design. I will definitely keep you posted during the remodeling process!

the great camping trip
of 2010! We have had 'take the kids camping' on our to do list for a very long time. Everything lined up for this past week end. All the ocean front State Parks were reserved but I found a first come first serve park on Camano Island. We left Friday morning right after swimming lessons and got one of the three spots left. From our camp site we had peek a boo water views and just the right amount of sun. We headed down to the beach after setting up camp (that is a lot of work). The kids searched for crabs and built a driftwood fort. I love how kids are completely entertained in the outdoors and we didn't hear an 'I'm bored' all week end. We also found out there was a State Park right next door that had kids activities the next day. Cama Beach State Park was really cool. It has recently been re done but it was originally a private cabin resort from the 1930's. The kids built wooden toy boats and decorated t shirts. We saw so much wildlife on the week end but the highlight was a jelly fish on the beach. I'm sure the jokester in the campground would have thought his giant remote control rat was the highlight though. Camping with kids turned out better than expected but we really think we are more of a hotel kind of family.

a few pictures until we find...
our camera software. Dale's camera has all the fun pictures of the beach and boating but until we can find our top secret hiding spot for camera software I'll post the few from my camera. The weather was fabulous, the kids were busy from the moment they woke up until they crashed at night and the adults had a great time laughing hysterically at ourselves and each other.
