bye bye snowbirds...

Last week we said good bye to my parents as they went on their first extended holiday since retiring. They are headed to Arizona for five weeks. We will miss them but they sure do deserve some R&R. We were able to spend the day last Thursday with them, Mom and I getting pedicures and Grandpa and Amelia hanging out. After dinner we waved good bye as they headed south.

the letter can

Amelia got to bring the letter can home from pre school last week. She was assigned the letter B. We had a fun time searching the house for objects to fit inside the can. Book, ball, banana and barrette. The banana looked a bit nasty by the time it made its way home after a day in preschoolers hands.

great wolf lodge

We took the kids to The Great Wolf Lodge for their birthdays this year. It was a looong drive down but pretty fun once we arrived. We stopped at Cabela's in Lacey on the way down and Aiden and Dale were in heaven. Me, not so much. The water park was pretty fun and we were able to all the water slides except one as a family. Amelia and I spent some serious time in the wave pool body surfing. After two days I think everybody was ready to trade in their bathing suits for some dry clothes and enjoy some peace and quiet after the auditory overload of the water park and hotel.

library field trip

Amelia's class went to the library last week. After story time Amelia wanted to find a quiet place to read her book. We settled on only taking eleven books home that day (she is a tough negotiator) including her first chapter book. I think Junie B. Jones is a new favorite around here.. On the down side she wants the entire chapter book read in one setting. Instant gratification, I wonder where she gets that from?

famiy birthday party

This year we celebrated Aiden, Ethan and Amelia's birthday in one party. I made one cake for all three kids and it was a little bit big. I stacked the cake 5 layers high without splitting the cakes and we needed to use dinner plates to serve it. I really need to step away from the baking thing because it just isn't my thing. The kids loved to spend time with their cousins and family. Of course opening a few presents wasn't too bad either.....
* Amelia wouldn't get near the cake once the sparkler was lit, I think we've found the first thing lil Miss Fearless is afraid of!
