a week in my life: tuesday

-Aiden wakes me at 7:45 requesting breakfast. Both kids are in a huge growth spurt sleeping 12 hours at night and needing to eat as soon as they get up
- sleepily stumble down the stairs to make toast and eggs for Aiden, cut up a pineapple with my super duper kitchen gadget that doesn't seem to work today, make his lunch, check computer, drink coffee
- 8:45 Aiden leaves in the carpool for school
- 9:00 Amelia wakes up wanting french toast
- more laundry
- make beds, chat on phone with friends
- work on bible study, stay in my pajamas until noon, a late night really brings out the lazy
- Amelia says 'her tongue needs hot chocolate' how can I deny that?
- noon, lunch of cottage cheese and pineapple
- shower and getting ready for work
- 1:30 leave for work, crazy busy, super sick patient
- 9:oo finish work early, on call tonight, come home, visit with Dale
- 10:00 to bed, pager by bedside hoping it doesn't go off tonight!

week in my life:monday

-woke up at 7am, come downstairs, upload week end photos so I can start this project, check email, drink coffee, admire my welcome home flowers
-7:30 Aiden awake and dressed in shorts for the beautiful sunny day we're going to have, Aiden and I have breakfast of yogurt, pear and granola
-8:10 Amelia wakes up, breakfast of cereal for her, pack Aiden's lunch, he's back to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches after almost a year and half hiatus!
-8:30 Aiden walks to school with a neighbor (and his Mom), I blog the weekend and start the kids laundry, stepping over Lego, Amelia playing in her room
-10:00 to the gym, hoping to get back in the groove, my knee surgery has me out of just about every routine of everyday life
-11:30 back from the gym, Amelia ad I make strawberry smoothies and I have my new favorite salad- pickled beets and feta cheese
12:30 shower and get ready for work
1:30 babysitter arrives and I leave for work, long slow day at work with mostly one complicated patient, work a little late, home at 11:45, glass of wine, crackers and wind down time on computer
12:30 to bed

this week end was...

girls week end on Lopez. It was beautiful views, wonderful conversation, delicious food, laughing hard, recharging mama batteries, hot tubs and wrestling.

chef amelia's big debut...

Amelia went to her first cooking class this week. The menu included strawberry lemonade, chicken caesar salad, a hummus happy face bagel and a pretzel peach sunshine. Her favorite creation was the caesar salad (who doesn't like a good crouton?) Amelia loved to wash her dishes afterwards in the child sized sink and play in the preschool playroom. The next morning she asked if she was going back to school. I think preschool in the fall will be a good thing.

portland part three

Sunday morning we were torn between driving to the coast or going to the science museum. We asked Aiden if he wanted to drive to Tillamook and have a tour of the factory ending in an ice cream cone and then head to Cannon Beach to check out the giant waves and sand beaches. He wanted to go to Birch Bay and have a snow cone. We decided to keep it simple and stay in Portland and check out the OMSI. It was pretty cool. They had an incredible prenatal development exhibit, Dale and Aiden toured a submarine, the kids loved all the hands on activities then we piled in the car for a lovely 6 hour drive home. Halfway home [Dale] we realized we had forgotten the portable DVD player and all our kid movies in the hotel room. Major bummer but yesterday the hotel found it and are shipping it home!

portland part two

Saturday we went to the Oregan Zoo. Aiden was on the hunt for bats and crocodiles and Amelia wanted to see 'kittycats'. The weather was perfect and I was able to keep up with the family all day.
