big time football game

Aiden had a football game at Civic Field. We had a scoreboard, covered bleachers to sit on and a birds eye view of the game. It has been so fun to watch Aiden play a sport he is passionate about. I have a huge learning curve for this football thing but it looks like I'll have many more years to figure this sport out.

open house 2012

The kids had their school  open house in September. It was the first time we had both kids under one school roof. Very nice. Aiden did a music perfromance with his fellow fourth graders and then it was on to tour the classrooms.

big time fourth grader

Aiden started fourth grade this week and he barely could stand to have a first day of school picture taken. He asked if I could take it inside the garage! Excited for a fun teacher and awesome classmates this year!

football jamboree

Last Saturday Aiden had his first football jamboree! Growing up in a all girl household this football business is brand new to me. What I knew is that we needed to be on the field 90 minutes before the first game for weigh in and warm up followed by 3 games back to back. And I thought hockey parents had it bad... Aiden and I set out and left Dale and Amelia home to work on the bathroom project until the start of the first game. Unfortunately, Dale had a minor flood in the upstairs bathroom that made him late. He arrived just in time to see Aiden walk off the field during his last game. Major bummer for him. Luckily, I had brought my camera and got a few pictures of our favorite footballer #18.

jr.ski to sea

Aiden participated in the Jr.Ski to Sea race this year. It was a really fun relay race consisting of 1.5 mile run, 3 legged race, 3 mile bike, soccer and obstacle course leg. Aiden did the soccer portion of the race. The weather was beautiful and he participated with a great group of kids. I can see this is the start of an annual event in our household.

teacher appreciation poem

It's teacher appreciation week at school. Thursday the kids were to make a card or write a poem for their teacher. Aiden wrote a name poem for his teacher that made me smile.

friday night art walk

Last Friday we were able to stroll through downtown checking out children's art work displayed in local business windows. We found our favorite third grade boy's paper and glue media of spring flowers! Afterwards, we enjoyed the rare Bellingham sunshine while sitting outside on the patio at LaFiamma pizza. Yum.

famiy birthday party

This year we celebrated Aiden, Ethan and Amelia's birthday in one party. I made one cake for all three kids and it was a little bit big. I stacked the cake 5 layers high without splitting the cakes and we needed to use dinner plates to serve it. I really need to step away from the baking thing because it just isn't my thing. The kids loved to spend time with their cousins and family. Of course opening a few presents wasn't too bad either.....
* Amelia wouldn't get near the cake once the sparkler was lit, I think we've found the first thing lil Miss Fearless is afraid of!

the pumpkin princess and young jedi....

Halloween felt different this year. Maybe it was that it was a Monday or maybe the kids are older and wanting to go in different directions. This childhood thing is going warp speed!

I do have another child...

I feel like Aiden doesn't get much airtime these days. Mostly because he is at school all day opposed to the four year old that is joined to me at the hip. When I look back at this blog...four years and counting... I see Aiden's life is recorded but that changes as they grow up and spend more time away from home. That almost sounds like he's already left for college! Truthfully, Aiden does choose to spend a lot of his time not with his family. He is busy with school, soccer and major playtime hours with his friends. It does make me a lil sad but also makes me treasure that time we do have together. He is still such a sweet sensitive boy and I love the time I do get to spend with him.
