the kitchen (more than you ever wanted to see)...

I finally took some pictures this afternoon of our almost completed kitchen. A few minor things as well as a backsplash will complete this project.

kitchen sneek peak

It is definitely coming along. We do have counter tops (not shown)but are still waiting on some cabinet doors, a wine cabinet and the door hardware.

Oh Susan, you're not lazy...

in fact you're quite fabulous! My new lazy (actually it's called a super) Susan is my new favorite part of the kitchen remodel. It fits all my canned goods from the basement pantry and has room for all the rice, grains, cereal and pasta with room to spare. Swoon.

guess what?

We are remodeling our kitchen! I placed the cabinet order on Monday and things should start happening very soon. The perimeter cabinets are a creamy white and the island will be espresso stained. We are going with brownish granite(not as dark as the picture) and redoing the wood floors and extending them into the family room. This picture is the kitchen designers rendering but it shows the layout quite well. The island will be 80 inches long and will make the biggest difference in the kitchen design. I will definitely keep you posted during the remodeling process!

family room fix up

Remember a gazillion years ago when I wanted to spruce up the family room. I think I finally finished. It's nothing dramatic but I am happy with the few changes and additions that have been made. I was able to have a custom vinyl project done here and a fun family picture from here. Crisp white curtains, new pillows and lamp completed the room. Now onto to the kitchen...

big girl room tour

Amelia's room is 95% done I just need to order a photo canvas for above her bed and paint her closet knobs (I'm thinking hot pink with white polka dots {she'll love it} One of the things I was looking forward to was using my childhood furniture. I never really liked it growing up but now I can see how cute it is for a little girl. We had originally planned to paint the furniture bright glossy white and change the hardware but I've decided I like the way it looks with her new bedding so why create more work for [myself] Dale. Amelia finds her new room the perfect place to practice her dance moves and apply jewlery in front of the dresser mirror.

mid winter blahs

Every year at this time I get antsy. Usually rearranging the furniture helps me in this department. But after several years of doing that I know how I like my furniture and I don't want to change it. Over the last few months I've started to feel like my house looks like someone significantly older than myself lives here (say a 90 year old lady that only likes the color brown). So I am determined to bring some color and 'funkiness' to my home. The family room is my first project and I've bought a few orange and turquoise accessories to hopefully help. Wish me luck and of course I will post some pictures when I'm done!

at last...

Five years ago next month we moved into this house. It took awhile but we have furnished the whole house. One of the only things missing was a coffee table for the living room. I finally found one that works!

the powder room

Dale and I were both a little bored with the paint color in the powder room. He was itching to do a little demo/construction work so he removed the built in medicine cabinet and made a niche, painted the room a new color and put in a new medicine cabinet and light fixture. The light fixture is missing one of the glass shades but as soon as they're back in stock we'll be complete.

our new night tables!

Our night tables arrived on Monday. I love them. Now I just have to figure out some artwork for the walls. What a chain reaction.

my new jewelry box

Thanks to Heather, my dresser was tracked down at Costco yesterday. There was a dresser available at the Issaqua store. Dale drove an hour home and then proceeded a 5 hour round trip drive to pick it up (during our freak snow storm). What a guy! I am very grateful but just in case you think he is a complete pushover the cost of the dresser was a third of the other one I found and now he can justify a flat screen for the bedroom! One of the dresser drawers is a jewelry box and it's nice to see my jewelry all at one time. I don't have very much on purpose but I did order a cute pair of vintage earrings this morning... Our night tables are set to arrive on Monday and then our bedroom will be complete!
